View Folly + art installation, ‘Architecture of Autonomy’ of Gwangju Folly Ⅲ will be open to the public from the 20th.
The folly, installed on the rooftop of Gwangju Visual Content Center in Dong-gu, Gwangju, is a collaborative work of Tim Edler and Jan Edler, the founders of realities:united, a studio for art and architecture and Moon, Hoon, a Korean architect. The folly also works as an observatory overlooking Asia Culture Center and Mudeungsan Mountain.
Visitors can go to the rooftop of Gwangju Visual Content Center where the folly is installed by taking the elevators of the building or an elevator on the 6th floor exclusive for the View Folly. The Folly is also accessible through a separate entrance and the emergency staircase. It is open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays as the winter season began. ‘Architecture of Autonomy’, the View Folly with an art installation, is composed of 33 trivisions where the stairs and pillars covered in stripes of bold magenta and yellow are rotating and changing their colors. Visitors can spin the trivisions themselves and enjoy the view of Asia Culture Center as well as the whole view of Gwangju City. The rear side of the installation allows the visitors to see the view of Mudeungsan Mountain.
