Meaning of Folly Tour
- Beyond the dictionary definition (towers and architectures built in big gardens and parks with solely decorative roles), Gwangju Folly is aimed at playing the role of urban get-away and plaza providing exhibitions and performances while achieving urban regeneration under the mission of establishing Gwangju as a cultural city and creating cultural attractions to be passed down to next generations.
- Gwangju Folly I units are established on the border of old site of ancient castle in Gwangju-eup. Tour of follies installed along the place will remind visitors of the history and identity of Gwangju.
※ Ancient castle in Gwangju-eup was built during the latter part of the Koryo Dynasty and existed for approximately 500 years until it was destroyed in the early 1900s. The castle was located in the old downtown around the former provincial office of Gwangju and was 1.5 miles long and 5.6 feet tall.
Folly Experience Tour
- Regular folly tour
- Regular folly tour is offered on the 4th Saturday of every month for local governments of other cities and provinces and Gwangju area’s schools, government offices and various civic organizations.
